Linux Drivers

  • If the Tyr driver is not yet available through your distribution’s packages, you can build it directly from the official INDI third-party repository.
    These instructions are for Ubuntu/Debian systems. Your configured repositories must provide INDI 2.2.5 or newer.
    1. Install the required tools and libraries
    sudo apt update sudo apt install -y git build-essential cmake ninja-build pkg-config \ libindi-dev indi-bin libnova-dev nlohmann-json3-dev
    2. Download and build the Tyr driver
    mkdir -p ~/Projects cd ~/Projects git clone --depth 1 https://github.com/indilib/indi-3rdparty.git cd indi-3rdparty cmake -S indi-tyr -B build-tyr -G Ninja \ -DCMAKE_BUILD_TYPE=Release \ -DCMAKE_INSTALL_PREFIX=/usr cmake --build build-tyr --parallel 4
    3. Install
    Close KStars and stop any running INDI server, then run:
    sudo cmake --install build-tyr
    Restart KStars/Ekos and select Prometheus Astro Tyr as the telescope driver in your equipment profile.
    The build installs only the Tyr driver. Official driver source.
